December in Silverton can be unreal. No holiday crowds and big dumps make it one of the best times of the season. With extra December dates added it has more unguided skiing/boarding options than ever before. December usually has fantastic snow and has been one of the snowiest months at the mountain. In fact the all time monthly snowfall record was set in December with over 200” in a single month. One year there was so much snow on opening day we were unable to open as the County snow plows could not make it up the road.
$49 Unguided ticket prices have never been raised and with the ultra low Silverton lodging prices why not make this a December to remember.
Local TIP: Silverton does not need a big base to be really fun. The alpine has a tundra base so bottomless powder can be had very early in the season. The woods take a little longer but still fill in rapidly. There is usually more expert terrain open at Silverton than anywhere else in the US in December regardless of what type of snow year it is. Open Dec 4-5,11-12,17,18,19,20*(MONDAY), 23,24,25,26,30,31.

Guided reservations are starting to fill up. All of your favorite guides are returning again for 2010-11 and look forward to sharing an incredible day with you. The reservations are coming in steadily for the more popular dates but there is still availability for all dates at this time. As the first snowstorms of the winter usually drop their load in Silverton in a week or two from now, the most popular dates normally start to sell out.

New 50% increase in lift capacity to eliminate the occasional morning wait. People come to Silverton to ski lines, not wait in them so we mounted up more chairs on the lift. By reducing the spacing between chairs we can eliminate that lift line that forms for the first chair of the day. You may likely even get a few extra runs in as a result.

Unguided Season passes will be on sale on 8/23 for only $399 We are hooking up the locals with a limited amount of early bird season passes on sale at nearly half the lowest price ever offered at any time before. Plus the unbelievable season pass deal comes with ½ price helidrops, an additional 14 free ski days at other Colorado Resorts (4 days A Basin, 5 days Monarch, & 5 at Loveland) and $79 guided skiing (standby). G-Pass ($99)
G-Pass allows you to purchase unguided tickets at the discounted rate of $39/day for the entire unguided season and includes two FREE unguided days (December 5th & December 25th). This is a great way to get inexpensive unguided skiing at one of the largest ski areas in the U.S. All Passes are non-transferable and non-refundable (see policy below).
10-Pass ($299)
10 days of unguided skiing at Silverton Mountain, plus 6 free days of skiing (2 at A-Basin, 2 at Monarch, 2 at Loveland).

Details: Discounted pricing is subject to change at any time. Limited amount of Passes available at discounted rate. All Passes are only good for unguided skiing. All of January 13 through March 27, 2011 is blacked out(meaning you cannot ski between those dates except for your 10 guided days with a Solid Gold Pass). The 10 guided days require reservations. Nothing associated with the Pass is transferable. The Passholder and only the Passholder may use the Pass at Silverton or the other ski areas. Passholders MUST come to Silverton Mountain to activate the Pass before using at other areas. Blackout dates for other mountains are as follows: Monarch: Dec 26-31, 2010. The Pass and associated benefits may be revoked or suspended for not following mountain rules. NO REFUNDS FOR ANY REASON. The goal is to open as much terrain as possible to unguided skiing every day (based on snow safety). The unguided boundary constantly shifts around the mountain as the snowpack changes. Guided skiers during the unguided season are allowed access into certain areas of the mountain that may not be quite ready for unguided skiers or may be too challenging to manage from a ski patrol perspective or signage/rope needs. There may be pockets of hazard or temperature fluctuations that make areas better suited for guided or unguided skiing on any given day. There is no arbitrary boundary between the two which allows a tremendous amount of terrain to be open for both unguided and guided skiing every day. On any given day there is usually more unguided expert terrain open at Silverton Mountain than any other ski area in North America.
